Strong Organizational Skills – Since you’re wearing many hats, you need to be able to manage the day to day in order to keep your franchise organized while also handling other aspects of the business. Keeping priorities straight is important when you’re managing multiple orders, clients, deadlines, sales and more.
Intelligence – There’s a lot to be said for someone that is book smart and capable of reasoning things out. That only goes so far when you’re running a business or franchise unfortunately. To find success you need strong common sense and street smarts.
Experience – Without some solid business experience you’re going to struggle when you open a new franchise. You’ll also have a lot of difficult trying to locate investors or get financing for your business. If you lack experience in the chosen field then you need to go find it even if that means volunteering for a while in a similar vertical.
Optimism – It’s important to know how you’ll react when the chips are down and things take a turn for the worst. How will you respond when your business starts to take a loss and there is a grim outlook or problem? A pessimist will quickly fold and go, or carry a sour mood that infects the business and employees. An optimist will fight through and look for ways to make positive change.
These qualities are all important, particularly for anyone that is just starting out with a new franchise. Keep in mind that not every single owner of every single franchise has displayed these qualities in perfect harmony but working to leverage those you do have is an important step toward a powerful business launch.
