If you are just starting out in the world of internet marketing you must remain alert and focused at all times. Listed are 10 unspoken rules you should review and use to your advantage.
1. First and foremost, lets look at the advantages of creating and building an online income. Our place of work is open for business 24/7 so we can work when we want and for as long as we want. Many of our regular duties can be run on auto-pilot leaving us with more time for family, social and leisure activities. This situation offers a less stressful working environment, and to a certain extent we are in control of your own rewards. However, it is important to remember that there are rarely any true ‘Get-Rich-Quick’ schemes on the Internet. Look upon it in much the same way as you would if you were creating an offline business, which, in order to be successful, requires commitment and a positive attitude right from the offset, with scant reward in the early days.
2. Don’t think money, think longevity when it comes to setting up your own online home business. You don’t want to spend needless hours setting up a ramshackle foundation of sorts just have it crumble in your face in a few months. If you’re like most of us and want to let the “day job” go then you need to do this right. Keep your mind focused in the right direction, set time aside to learn and do this on a consistent basis. If you can devote one hour per day to learning a new internet skill, it will help you immensely. Make spare time on a weekend to get through whatever learning curve you may be experiencing. It will be worth it in the long run when you are able to spend quality time with friends and family.
3. If you could “get-rich-quick” don’t you think we’d all be rich? It may feel good to fantasize about that kind of hype, but don’t you believe it. It just doesn’t work that way. Make sure that you research individuals via Google, read reviews about how satisfied/dissatisfied customers are with a product and whether people are offering contact information in case you have a question or a problem. Before you pay for anything, send an email with a question to see if you get a response. Protect yourself out there in cyberspace. For all the people who are making online income and helping the newcomer, there are some really bad eggs as well.
4. This economy has most of us broke and hanging on by a hair! Imagine finding a “secret formula” that made you huge sums of money daily. Then imagine sharing that formula with the world wide web! The internet has really turned me off to the work “secret”. The secret is, there aren’t any secrets, just information you need to learn. Everyone was a beginner at some point, you’re no different. Steer clear of the blaring animated graphics and the word “secrets”. We’ve all seen those websites that look like an evening in Las Vegas. They are psychologically created to make you take that “chance”, just like in the casino. Follow you gut and never go against it.
5. I wish I could find a internet millionaire who would really take me by the hand and show me step-by-step how his ebook earned him a six-figure income. Grow up! How many times have we (I said we) clicked the “buy now” button only to be disappointed with an ebook that couldn’t make a $1K much less $1 Million. I hope that we’ve all learned by now that an internet business takes some work to set up. Nothing is hard unless you make it hard. Often we mistake hard for different.
6. Don’t pay too much attention to images of earnings checks or bank statements purportedly demonstrating how much the account holder has earned. It is a simple task to create whatever documents you want with a little creativity. The same goes for letters of recommendation or testimonials. Anyone can write them or get their colleagues to do them a favor! They may con some of the people some of the time, but don’t let it be you!
7. If you study the successful internet marketer you’ll find they share a simple quality. Commitment! They are committed to being successful and they do not give up when presented with an obstacle. They are kind of people who stay focused and keep a positive attitude. When confronted with a learning curve they embrace it until they “get it”! It’s not about the instant income, it’s about the residual income. Auto-pilot does exist, but not until you’ve learned the processes.
8. Let’s talk organization. Organization is not an end to itself, but rather a means to get you where you want to go. Being organized allows you to achieve your goals through skillful management of time, paper and people. Specific organizational methods will largely be tailored to each individual and their needs. Learn the various principles and techniques to better organize your business and life. It will streamline your workload and help you stay on top of your daily activities..
9. “Netiquette” stands for “Internet Etiquette”, and refers to the set of practices created over the years to make the Internet experience pleasant for everyone. Like other forms of etiquette, netiquette is primarily concerned with matters of courtesy in communications. Some basics are, help the newcomer; be brief, always include your email address, etc.
10. Avoid leaving large amounts of funding in any online marketing or promotion website! Most websites have a strict policy on spamming and if you are ever accused (rightly or wrongly) of sending unsolicited emails, you are likely to have your account closed, which could result in you losing your current funding too!
