today’s economy you may be frightened when you can’t pay your bills It’s apparant that many people are experiencing the same thing. It’s hard to keep a positive attitude. One thing is true, we always seem to find a way, even in difficult circumstances.
It’s time to tell a different story. It is understandable that we will be present to fear when challenged with new circumstances in our life. However, if the way out of it is to look at in a new framework, then let’s get busy and do that!
A great way to look at this challenging experience is to consider it from an historical perspective. Alvin Toffler, in his book “The Third Wave”, talked about three major phases of human economic development. The first was the Agricultural Age when we worked at home and bartered with our extended community for goods and services. The second was the Industrial Age. After the invention of the steam engine we created mass production, factories and the concept of a “job”.
Now, in the third wave, the information age, we are returning to our homes to make our living. The difference is that now we have technology so we can powerfully communicate and travel all over the world. It’s a whole new game with a whole new set of rules.
Another way of looking at our situation is that history is calling us out of a place of subjugation into a place of powerful personal self expression. It seems scary at first but we may soon realize that this is what we really wanted all along. Now is the time to recognize that we are living in the context of history and that this transformational time is not the end but simply a change. The good news is that change brings with it the seeds of greater freedom and prosperity for everyone.
In these times we have new ways of learning and new ways of commerce. It will take some work to shift our consciousness from a “job” centered thinking to being our own boss. It will be challenging at first but it most certainly will be worth it to have freedom in our lives.
The more we put our focus on what we really do want the more we may find greater freedom and fulfillment. It’s one of those things, that when you look back on it, you say “Boy! I’m glad that happened”. But, for right now it looks like a mess. The challenge is take stock and move forward.
As a result of all this turmoil we will wake up to realize it was part of some great plan bigger than ourselves. We’ll see that we continue to evolve as beings who live on this planet and the next phase of our existence will give rise to greater sense of freedom and personal self expression and we’ll be glad it happened.
