The internet is full of a variety of home biz opportunities for those of us who would like to work for ourselves or at least supplement our incomes. With any good thing like this also comes the bad however and their is no shortage of scams out there for us to fall victim to. Don’t let the thought of getting scammed turn you off from the idea of working for yourself altogether though. As long as you are careful and know what things to watch out for you will be fine and well on your way to generating some real money.
The very first thing you need to look at is what exactly it is that you would be selling. Will you be marketing a specific product or service or will you be marketing a business opportunity? If more of the focus is being put on getting others to join in on the opportunity than it is generating sales of the product or service you might want to proceed with caution. Instances like this make it a big possibility that the opportunity is a scam.
Next check to see if the opportunity requires any type of investment where you are paying to become a part of someone elses downline. Scams like this are often referred to as pyramid schemes. These schemes have been around for many years and are very common. They work by having you recruit other people into your own downline before you can make any money. The money you make ends up coming from the people you recruited who have also fallen victim to the scam. In many cases this is not an illegal practice but even so they aren’t always to best thing to be a part of either. You can quickly lose a lot of money and even worse cause other unsuspecting people to do the same.
After you have investigated these two things you next need to look into the type of payments the company accepts. Do they accept Paypal? Do they take credit card payments? An obvious warning sign is a company asking for payment in the form of a wire transfer. These types of transactions can’t be reversed and provide no protection which is why the scammers love them. A real business will be able to accept Paypal or credit card and usually both for that matter.
Not all home biz opportunities are going to be scams but to protect yourself from the ones that are you should carefully evaluate and research everything before you jump in and especially before you give them any money.
If you aren’t getting a good vibe about something it is best not to get involved at all. Real opportunities are usually easy to find information about and almost always have a lot of people online providing good feedback on their experiences.
