Looking to own your own business is going to be a great thing, but you will want to avoid purchasing distributorships for sale. These have many negatives that can create issues that you might not have to deal with right away when you first start out. Here are some of the reasons that you will want to avoid this type of business plan and instead start with direct sales straight to your customers.
You might think that since these look like they will be able to provide you with great rewards you will want to research them even further. However, you will find that at times these are going to be to good to be true and you could end up spending all that free time working on getting money into your pocket.
One of the reasons that this is so bad is you are only going to be getting a percentage of the sale. Certain companies are going to have you promoting or selling the product that they have and you are only going to get a small percentage of the sale. So you could end up making one sale that takes you ten hours to do any only get paid one percent of the total sale.
The other issue can be the shipping charges are going to be out of your control. If you are selling straight to your customers it will not be a problem, but if you are having to have the items shipped to them you will be relying on someone else to take care of the packaging and shipping.
The distributing company could run out of the item and you would not be able to supply your customer with the product and have to refund them the money. Nothing is worse than the order that you have worked hours on getting the person to buy ends up being cancelled because the company does not have the proper item forcing you to refund the money and have a lost sale.
Another problem is since you are not going to be selling the product directly to your customers you will need to be able to describe the product to the letter, but you are only going to have the information that is provided for you. So you will want to make sure that you have the best way to really sell the product or end up purchasing some for your own use.
The price can be a problem as well. This is going to be an issue because if you are using some companies they will require you to sell the product for the price they have set. However, you could find that some other people are selling a similar product that is better made for cheaper than what you can do. This could lead to you losing sales that you could have made if you were able to lower your cost.
If you are going to be going into business for yourself you will want to realize that direct sales are going to be better for so many reasons. However, you will probably be inundated with many different distributorships for sale offers. The problem with these is you can have many problems with these that are going to be out of your control.
